Do you have a set limit you spend on Christmas gifts for your family and friends or do you just buy what you think they would like, regardless of the price?

I start out with an "attempt" to budget, but usually go a tad... *ahem* over it. 8D It's not that I think people won't appreciate the less expensive gifts also, but I want to get everyone what I think will make them the happiest. And usually I have to spend more to do that. However, I have no qualms about getting people cheap stuff if I think it's what they'll like. personally, I love cheap stuff! And of course I comparison shop! The saying is true, though. It's not the price of the gift that should matter, it's the thought.

Hubby & I set a total over all limit of what we feel we are going to spent after we make up our gift list and pretty much stick to it. We agreed few yrs back to start giving all the adults gift certificates to eat as most have no need for extra junk, old teens gift certificates to shop for themselves we have 2 6yrs this yr and they were the only ones that received 1 education toy and a few small items. their eyes are the best to watch And I make 50 lbs of fudge to give away to places we do business with.

Thank you so much! I start out with a budget, too. But, I always go over. And, then I try to even it out. For example if I spend $40 on a child in one family, I try to spend the same for her siblings. I don't want anyone to think I think less of them. . .
