What is the best wifi router?

I have a Verizon Fios router with a WiFi G laptop. Verizon doesn't have an upgraded router. I can't get a laptop signal on the top floor in my house without hardwiring a line. What are the next best fixes for this laptop signal scenario?

  • Answer:

I use a Netgear product to send the signal across the internal power lines in the house. It works reasonably well. Basically, you take one of the ports on your FIOS router and connect to that port using an Ethernet cable and plug the device into the wall near the FIOS router. Then you plug in another device into an electrical outlet in another part of the house, and that puts out a Wi-Fi signal.
