Who has wider vision men or women?

All men carrying mutant gene in X-chromosemes are colour blind.most women with mutant gene have proper vision with reduced resolution.can you give a plausible explanation for this?if a woman is colour blind what could you say abt her father?abt her mother

  • Answer:

This is due to the difference in the sex chromosomes between the two genders. By and large men carry one X chromosome and one Y chromosome. Women, on the other hand, carry two X chromosomes. For a woman to be properly colour blind she has to inherit two X chromosomes that both carry the mutation (and, as a result, a colour blind woman MUST have a colour blind father). A male child on the other hand only needs to receive one X chromosome which carries the mutation. He has to receive this from his mother, as he receives his Y chromosome from the father, so the mother, unless she is fully colour blind, will carry one normal X chromosome and one carrying the mutation. Therefore the male child has a 50% chance of being colour blind if his mother is a carrier.
