Why won't my Ipod charge when connected to the computer?

I am trying to charge my ipod on my computer. the message on the ipod says "connected, eject before disconnecting" is this normal? and the battery doesnt seem to be charging, however is it charging?

  • Answer:

You will always get the "eject before disconnecting" message when you plug in the ipod, even if you're not charging. Look at the battery meter. If you see a lightning bolt inside it, then your ipod is charging. But you can always interrupt the charge and check it. If the ipod won't charge on the computer, then try charing it on an ipod docking device if you have one. If it won't charge on either one of those devices, then you have a problem. You can visit apple's website and get contact info so you can call for help.
