How To Download Pdf Reader?

When I download a pdf file I see it immediately with a pdf reader. However when I "X" out, the file disappears and I can't seem to find it again with Windows Explorer search-- how can I control where these downloads reside? (XP version)Thanks

  • Answer:

If you use Firefox you can configure the folder all your downloads go into. And that folder starts off as your desktop I believe - so it's really easy to find downloads after the fact.

Thanks for all your help- It looks like the simplest thing to do is to "save as".........

it's in your temperary internet or temp files look in [ C:\Documents and Settings\your user name here\Local Settings\Temp ] for example, I opened a pdf with the file name epslatex.pdf (the first one that showed up in a google search for file type pdf)and i found it on my temp file here C:\Documents and Settings\Zwatcher\Local Settings\Temp\epslatex.pdf

If you open the PDF within your web browser, then the only copy that would exist would probably be within your Internet Cache folders. You would therefore need to save a copy from within the PDF reader, or alternatively, right click the PDF in the web browser and save it to your hard drive first, and then open it up.

Did you 'save' them? You have to do that and tell it where you want it saved. I have a file in My Documnets called PDF downloads. I choose this folder for all PDF files off of the net.

Within the reader you should be able to Save a copy to a folder of your choice.
