How can I hook up my xbox360 to the Internet?

Xbox360: I have a Gold Membership for 3months. Ready to hook up to Xbox Live. I am using my Internet Cable I use for my computer. When I sign up to Xbox Live on the Test it says, "IP Address - Failed" Why is this? Do I need a new Modem?

    you also need to take note of the configuration of your X-BOx's ip if it automatically gets an IP address for your OR you manually place an IP address. But most of the time it should be done automatic.

When you take the cable out of your computer and put it in the Xbox, you have to reset your modem. There is a little button on the modem that you have to push in with a pen. You also may have inadvertently typed in some settings for the internet on your Xbox. Make sure that everything is on automatic and that there is nothing typed in on the PPoP settings.
