I'm from the UK, and North Americans share three names for their seasons with us (Winter, spring and summer), but what we call autumn is called the Fall, what are the origins of this?

Answer:
autumn is actually autumn here too. But people call it fall because the leaves fall from the tree's and it's easier to write fall then it is autumn
