What the types of advertising are most effective?

What types of marketing/advertising techniques would you recommend for advertising your catering business/deli shop? Word of mouth is always #1...but what else? Just looking for simple cheap if not 'free' ideas....

Craigslist is an awesome free place to advertise, and catering is actually a very good bussiness right now, lot of offices wanna cut down the cost so isntead of going to restaurant you can go to them. You should definitelly go to bigger companies and office buildings and talk to them in person, give them quotes, tell them that you can feed this many ppl for this much money, or go there and bring them free samples of food as part of your advertising. Whatever it is that you do I would really be interested in knowing how it is going for you.
