Let's put it this way, the orphanages and migrant shelters, the pharmacies and missionaries need resources to keep functional, and the Vatican covers that, the priests have human needs, they eat, pay bills, etc. Plus all the schools, and scientific research requires a lot of money. An organization that big can't survive without money
