Are there any CFL bulbs not made in China?

My wife bought some "Made in China" Compact Fluorescent Bulbs in Chinatown for a real bargain. Within 1 month, all four burned out. Not such a bargain. Are you giving up on "Made in China" as a brand?

  • Answer:

Made in China isn't a brand.

There are some good things that are made in China. But, is "Made in China" promoted as a brand?? If I see something like that, I'll stay away from it. Thanks for the warning.

I never really "trust" everything made in China. If it's made in a factory it's not given the real time and care that needs to put into it. Whether it's food or its toys. Besides, 100% of all the "made in china" toys were recalled and China's food doesn't have any orginization to test food or what seems to be real limits on food-products. My basic belief is that if anything is mass produced and theres no one there to carefully insepect or regulate how the ocmpany is doing it, it may not be safe to buy it.

I specifically avoid generic products made in China. If at all reasonable I go out of my way to find American products period. Just two weeks ago I switched to Snuggle fabric softener from Bounce because it's similarly priced and made in America. I'm going to start replacing my CFL bulbs with LEDs. http://earthled.com is an American company. I'm researching to find out about where their product is actually made. I'm thinking Asia, but I guess you can't win them all. I'll get just a couple at first to see the quality. I have some 1w LEDs I got cheap from ebay. Not very practical as lighting, but I've found some great uses for them.

I wonder if we gave up on buying stuff made in China if there would be very many things left to buy. Seems tons of stuff are made somewhere other than the United States. +5

That is why I buy Made In America.

I don't care where it's made, as long as it's a good product and is at a reasonable price.
