How can I get my screen back to normal it is really big?

In windows 98, all the icons and windows are too big for the screen. I have tryed to go into the display settings to change the size of the appearance, but because the window is too big I can't see what i'm s'posed to change. How can i get it back normal?

  • Answer:

it sounds as if your graphics driver is no longer working and so the system is defaulting to basic vga settings, which gives you minimum colours and makes everything look larger than you are used to. If this is the case you will not be able to change the settings. If you go into Display (right-click on an empty part of the desktop and then scroll to Properties) and go into 'Settings', that is where you can modify the screen resolution and the colour palette when the graphics driver is in place. Click on the Advance tab and that will take you to another window. There should be a tab there named Adapter, and clicking on that will give you the name of the card and show that the card is recognised and the driver in place. However, if the card is not working, there may not be a tab there for adapter, or if there is it will say 'unknown'. In that situation, you need to find out what your graphics card is and download/install the driver that relates to it - then everything will return to normal.
