I deleted some jpg files, but when i search my computer for jpg files, it shows the files are still there, however when i try to delete, it says it can't find them, but it does show a preview of the pictures..??? my os is vista

Did you empty your recycle bin? Also rebooting the computer reminds it to update it's cache memory. Lastly, check the path of the files that the search is returning, there's a chance you have the files stored in multiple places.
