What are the "points" all about, and what do they mean?

I just gave someone points who posts often and I give points to often; what is this message that I've given him too many points this week?! What does it mean?

    It means you are out of points for that person until a new week starts and I am confused as to when a new week starts so don't ask.But if you feel like you have to give points my bag is open:) lol

There is a limit of 24 times you can give an individual points for a rolling weekly time-period. It means you've reached the limit for this rolling week. There's a limit to how many times you can DR a person, too (15)... Funny how I've never read any complaints about that, except from DRers. LOL) The purpose was to help keep people from uprating only their friends' questions and answers.
