How do you set up a wireless cable modem?

I have a laptop that uses a wireless connection. I want to be able to use the internet by connecting to my home pc that uses a cable modem. How do I set that up? My laptop does not even detect it.

Answer:

I concur; wireless router. We have one so our two desktops and my netbook can share our DSL connection. Just make sure to enable WEP/WPA encrytion so that you don't have all sorts of people siphoning your bandwidth. The manual for the router will tell you how to do so.

Instead of getting a wireless router, there is the alternative of getting a cheap USB wireless broadcaster. They're about the size of a flash memory stick. Just plug one into the USB slot of your home PC and it will broadcast a small network.
