I work 8 hours a day what breaks am i entitled too and should they be paid or unpaid. also she is making me work extra to cover the time i have off for my break is that right.

I think you are entitled to 15-20 minutes for every four hours you work- Anywhere. Its up to the employer whether or not you are paid for your breaks. Some people are, some people are not. Its not right to make you work extra for the time you have off however- that much I am certain of. Because by working extra, could entitle you for more time to take breaks! Also, don't let her make you take your breaks at the start or end of your shift- this is illegal. Try the Citizens Advice Bureau for more concise information.

You're entitled to a 30min. break if you work 8hrs.. Under NO circumstances can your employer make you work "extra" to cover your break time. That's illegal. Report her and her employer to the Labor Board of your state!

Depends on where you live I am Canadian and we have strict labor laws. If u work 8 hours you get at least 10 mins in breaks and at least a 20 min lunch. That is payed. If you want two 10 min beaks ans a 30 min lunch you have to work for at least 8 and half hours for it to be payed. That is how we do it down here.....

If you worked eight hours at my work then you would get a 15 mins paid break, and a 45 min un paid break. My sisters work is a bit different, she can either have two 15 mins paid breaks and half a hour unpaid. or half a hour paid and half a hour unpaid.

Look up your state or province's labor laws. But making you work extra time for time off on a break sounds like BS to me.
