People often talk about the double standard "guy has many partners he is cool, girl has many partners she is bad". I do not believe that double standard is alive any more. what is your view on promiscuity and is there a gender difference?

Sexual promiscuity is indicative of deep-seated maladjustments. I prefer to make a wide berth around those types regardless of whether they are male or female. It is very unappealing to me.

I think this has changed from cool to not cool. I for one have decided to wait till I'm married or very close to marriage. With education to the awareness of diseases from promiscuity it has taken the S out of (s)ex. There will always be a few who fall behind, who just don't get it. (So to speak)! haha I would never take a guy seriously that slept around. That shows lack of integrity, character, and self respect.

I'm not really fussed about a partners previous sexual conquests, so long as they're clean & faithful now i'm easy ;)

to me a girl who sleeps around is a slut and a guy who sleeps around is a manwhore (manslut just does not roll off the tongue as well). yes there are differences in our genetic drives (men to seek all mates, women to seek only the best) but as humans we are supposed to be more than just our genetic programming. if you are not decieving any of your partners and your moral code does not preclude promiscuity then there your choice to be a slut is fine, as long as you do not have to lie to yourself and think you are not a slut. now if you decieve your partners wether by hiding STD info or history they ask for or by pretending you are exclusive when you are not, then you are scum (and just as before regardless of gender)

To call it a double standard is simply false. To do so would mean that both guys and girls are on exact equal footing. When it comes to the ability to have sex, all a girl has to do is say "yes". Meanwhile it's usually the guy who has to do all the convincing and "mating rituals". A guy can approach 20 different women and he might get one "yes". Meanwhile a woman can approach 20 guys and probably get 18 "yeses".

You are once again raking up the murk of monogamous, polygynous, polygamous and polyandrous natures in the human kind. We all know we evolved from inferior animals. Some residue of the lesser animal is still remains in us. There is a gender difference, in my humble opinion.

I see no difference based on gender. Besides that, what a person does is no business of my own. What one person may see as being a tram I see as a person living their lives the way they wish.
