When Christians say that they're "Saved" what does that mean?

Answer:
It means that we have accepted the fact that we are sinners and that we accept the gift freely offered by our savior...we should then be driven to try to live by Christ's example but we know we will inevitably fail, hence the need to be saved. It's not a one time deal, it should be a lifetime commitment.

It means that they're presumptious. They assume that once they've "accepted" Christ into their lives, that they can continue to sin and get automatic forgiveness just because they're Christian. Saved from the fires of hell.

It means that they believe in a few things as given assumptions: 1.) The existence of a soul. 2.) The immortality of said soul. 3.) The existence of a deity. It means that they accept Christian dogma including: 1.) The identification of the deity. 2.) The preferences/laws/rules of that deity, specifically in regards to the existence of sin and what constitutes sin. 3.) The sinful nature of humanity. 4.) That the only payment for sin that said deity will accept is death, not only physical (blood sacrifice) but eternal/spiritual (Hell) if the blood sacrifice is not made. 5.) A dichotomy of eternal destinations for the aforementioned soul: Heaven (reward) or Hell (punishment). 6.) That Yeshua of Nazareth was the Son of God (Trinitarianism is common, but not universal or required for this belief) who came to earth and was the perfect, final, all-encompassing blood sacrifice that paid for everyone's sin. 7.) That the blood sacrifice of Yeshua only covers those who actively accept that sacrifice and worship Yahweh and Yeshua. The term "saved" means that they are saved from sin and eternal damnation at the hands of their merciful and loving (you reconcile the two ideas, I cannot) God.

I apologize for answering my own question but I did find the following especially good so I offer to you for your consideration and comment: Q: What does it mean to be saved? A: 1. You Realize There Are Only Two Eternal Options After Death He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18 2. You Realize You Are A Sinner There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:10 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 3. You Realize You Cannot Get Yourself Into Heaven Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20 4. You Realize That Christ Paid The Price To Get You Into Heaven For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous. Romans 5:19 For the wages of sin [is] death, but the gift of God [is] eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 5. You Realize That You Must Receive Christ As Your Savior If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10 For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. The different mansions represent different rewards or degrees of glory. Each of us will receive glory according to the commandments which we obey. For those who repent and obey all the commandments, they will receive a greater glory. Those who don't obey all the commandments, but live good lives, will receive a lesser glory. This is not supported by scripture... (Revelation 7:4) And I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel: (Revelation 14:1) And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads. The bible does not mention any 'degrees' of difference of this group. They are all treated ther same.

It means they are now much better than you.

No one is 'positively' saved, right up to Armageddon...We must keep on trying... (Zephaniah 2:3) seek Jehovah, all YOU meek ones of the earth, who have practiced His own judicial decision. Seek righteousness, seek meekness. Probably YOU may be concealed in the day of Jehovah’s anger. ...PROBABLY....

The purpose of this life is to prove ourselves worthy to return to live with God as resurrected, immortal beings. Our Spirits lived with God before coming to this Earth. God created this Earth and sent us here and placed a veil over our minds so we couldn't remember the pre-existence. to prove ourselves worthy to return to His presence. God knew we would sin, so He provided a Savior for us to atone for our sins. Jesus Christ was selected as our Savior. We are saved through the atonement of Jesus Christ. Through His resurrection, we will also be resurrected. Jesus also atoned for sins, and will act as mediator between us and God at the final judgement. However, the Atonement is conditional, and depends upon our repentance and obedience to the Commandments. If we do not repent, the atonement has no effect, and we will be punished for our own sins, and receive a punishment appropriate to the sins for which we did not repent and/or obey. So, salvation consists of two parts: 1. The resurrection: unconditionally available to all who are born into this World; 2. Return to the Kingdom of God, according to our good works and/or evil works, explained below. Joseph Smith gave two statements in relation to obedience to the commandments. They are contained in the Doctrine and Covenants. . > Here is the first: "Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection. And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come. . > Here is the second: "There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated— And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated. . Going along with this same idea, Jesus said: "In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14) . The different mansions represent different rewards or degrees of glory. Each of us will receive glory according to the commandments which we obey. For those who repent and obey all the commandments, they will receive a greater glory. Those who don't obey all the commandments, but live good lives, will receive a lesser glory. . In order to truly understand the Plan of Salvation, one must first understand the basics of what God has commanded us to do and the blessings and punishments associated with obedience or disobedience to God's commandments and laws. . Perhaps, even before understanding the Commandments and Laws with their accompanying blessings and punishments, we need to establish the true nature of God, where we came from, and why we are here. Once we have established a basic foundation and have come to a mutual agreement on the nature of God, the origins of our beginnings and the reason why we are here in this life, we can come to a true understanding of the Plan of Salvation and can then discuss what it truly means to be saved. . Another important principle we must understand is the definition of Heaven. Most people in the World seem to be satisfied with the answer that salvation means that we will live with God! If we don't know the true nature of God, how will we know that we are in God's presence? How will be happy in His presence, other than by our religious leaders telling us we will be happy? If we don't know what heaven will be like, how do we know whether or not we will be happy? Where is our motivation to live the commandments? . In knowing the true nature of God, Jesus said, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7) . How can we know that we are doing the will of Jesus and are not numbered among the workers of iniquity Jesus was talking about in the above scripture?
