I've had a dwarf hamster now for about 3 weeks, and the lil guy still won't come near my hand, and I'm pretty sure I'm doing nothing wrong. Anyone know how long it would take to get used to me, or if I just have a pet who hates me? lol

lol i think its understandable for hamsters to be scared when a giant hand comes in their home to grab them lol. but my tips are to just keep your hand still in the cage for the hamster to know that you are not a threat. the second step is to have a piece of food and feed it to your hamster when it comes to you. after a few days your hamster will be getting used to you. by now you should scoop up your hamster with both hands and feed the hamster with a treat let your hamster walk from on hand to other. practice makes perfect hope i helped! good luck xx (when handling hamsters be sure to be sitting on a bed or on the floor just in case you drop your hamster)

Consider yourself lucky. Dwarf Hamsters are known to be vicious biters. So if you have one that's not aggressive that could be an indicator that it's good natured. Give it some time and space and after it settles in start offering it food in your open palm.
