How to get my wireless internet on Ubuntu 9.10 to work?

What files do I need to download in order to get Wine to work in Ubuntu 8.10 (No internet at home, trying to get them on pendrive!)

  • Answer:

What you can do is download all the dependencies from packages.ubuntu.com (trace it until you reach the libc and kernal stuff) and open them up from bottom up.

It's probably easier to take your computer to wherever you've got internet and hook it up to download. Otherwise you could go into synaptic and take note of all the dependencies and make sure you download them all.

If you can, I recommend you get an Ubuntu DVD and install from that. It should have nearly everything you want on it. Hopefully you can find another computer with access and a DVD burner. The download is likely to take a *long* time. Alternatively you might try to get one from shipit.ubuntu.com or elsewhere. This might cost you a few bucks. You might be able to avoid this if you can get in touch with a Linux user group in your area. I don't recommend downloading anything to your pendrive and installing that way. It can be done but it's a PITA and can cause problems later on.
