What does it take to skip a grade in school?

I am very intelligent, but will not pass the 8th grade on a formality. Will I be able to take summer school or be able to skip ahead next year in order to pass?

  I'm a teacher. In our school, if you do not get enough credits, you do not pass. Summer school is offered, but you can't make up 2 core classes, just one. There isn't time. We do not allow a student to skip up to 9th grade. I hope you have spoken to your 8th grade dean and your Vice Principal and asked for information about summer school and if the course you need can be taken to clear up the reason you are not passing. They will be much more knowledgeable about your specific situation than anyone on this site. - hope all goes well.
