Make a screen mirror?

Why do they still make cars with mirrors? Wouldn't it be better (now the technology is pretty cheap) to have a minature cameras positioned in such a way as to recreate a quality image, on a par with a conventional mirror and an LCD screen inside the car?

    reliability/timing/resolution electronics may fail at critical moments, mirrors wont there's a delay in getting the image from the camera processed through to the lcd screen. a mirror works at the speed of light HD cameras (are still expensive and) are limited to low resolutions compared to the millions/billions of megapixels (yes, i meant to put a mega there) that a "real image" gets

excellent idea - but mirrors look good!

The purpose of this idea, obviously to consider the reduction of aerodynamic drag on the vechicle being the objective. Also, I've had a mirror broken before by a car coming the other way down a narrow lane...no more of this with a more modern system!
