  • Answer:

bulimia is more a persons 'own psyche' than anything..no one can help better than yourself....and if u wont 'help yourself' ,no one can......keep trying.....take control of your mind and problem and not let it CONTROL YOU....call a hotline if u need support.....but professional help is just 'people making money off your problem'....lots of money.... God can help more than a human and the rest is up to you..... psychologically....deep down....ur parents are the main the main objective YOU DO WANT TO KNOW...bulimia is ur way of getting attention and keeping the FOCUS on u....probably due to your parents ignorance on PARTIAL<UNATTENTIVE < ways......most are..... ive just seen this with a beautiful ,middle child....started at college.....shes 23 now....but in her grandparents and parents eyes , she was never doted on or praised by family as her OLDEST BROTHER and YOUNGEST SISTER.....very overlooked and placated....it took a few yrs . but the parents and grandparents came to REALIZE....understand ...but many don't ever..... be strong Anon....talk to people , but LISTEN and APPLY....there is a PSYCHOLOGICAL REASON for this...focus on this point and u can FIGHT it better....

I know it's hard to tell your parents about your problem. I'm not going to sugar-coat it - if you keep doing this it will kill you. Slowly and painfully, but it will kill you. First your esophagus is going to be a mess from all the bile you've worked up. Your tooth enamel is going to come off and all sorts of unpleasant side-effects. You need to get help because this isn't something you can quit by yourself, and you know that. If for some reason you can't bring yourself to tell your parents at least tell an adult you're comfortable with, preferably one that will make the transition to your parents easier. Your parents love you, and they're not going to disown you because of something you're struggling with. If you give them a chance they can be your strongest supporters, the ones who will help you quit. Don't let your fear get in the way of a major lifeline. This is your life we're talking about. This is not a time to hold back.

Let's start with why you can't tell your parents? Are you afraid they'll react badly? Do you feel you can't talk to them? Such stresses can cause eating disorders at your age. If you can't stop yourself, then you need help, more help than Answerbag can provide. Seek out free guidance, the school nurse, or a guidance counselor, a pastor if you're so inclined. Someone you trust.

I developed bulemia at about your age, and judging by your choice of words, I believe, as was the case with me forgive me if I infer incorrectly, that there is a good reason for you not to want your parents to know. I understand that, and I understand that it is hard for most people to get it. THat said, it is imparative that you seek help. If not from a parent then from a trusted adult (emphasis on adult). Someone who knows you and knows your home life and will do what is best for you. I assure you that if you do not treat this now, it will get worse, and if left untreated it will kill you. I fought my bulemia for two years, and when I "stopped" I became anorexic, and fought that for another four years. It almost cost me my life, and I am telling you it is not worth it. Anything you need to know, I probibly do, so don't hesitate to ask. Goodluck, and I am so proud of you for seeking help.

I was bulimic when I was younger. now I am 29 and living with severe stomach problems and had multiple surgeries on my pancreases and they had to remove my gallbladder. I can not eat a regular diet, and am constantly nauseated and in pain. I take all sorts of meds to keep me going now that I will take my whole life. It is causing complications in my pregnancy. I would rather live fat then have all the problems I am facing today! Please tell your parents or a trusted adult!

I had it when i was younger. Not to the point where i wasted away, but i did it for about 3 months. It was just the feeling of knowing anything i put in my mouth will do me no harm cos ill use ut to full up n get rid of it. I thought i was fine to deal with it alone when i realised sadly its a disorder not a habbit. Talk to someone about it, a friend or even your doctor. they cant say anything to your mum. Just dont do it alone bcos it will go on and on and on. Good luck xx

Get professional help. Go to your school nurse or aunt/uncle or an other adult you trust for help and support. But your parents probably should know and will also help you. But get help now before it gets any worse. Getting better will only be harder the longer you wait. +5

No one will think anyhing bad or differnt about you. It may be hard for them to understand but get help now. If you dont get help NOW you WILL live with this forever. you may get cured but if you wait to long you will always deal with the feeling of wanting to get sick. Your parents will be ok and Im sure want to get help and even if you have horrible parents you can still get help from someone who DOES CARE. i have bulimia i am speaking from experince not a doctor or professional...bc they can be cheesy and it can seem like they lie to you get help!!!!!!!!!!

First of all are you the purging type or non purging?

There's a saying: You're only as sick as your secrets. If this is becoming a problem you can't manage alone, you need to seek help. You can try overeaters anonymous (OA), which deals with all form of eating disorders. But your parents should know. Bulimia, unchecked, can become a serious - even deadly - physical condition. Your parents love you and will want to help you be healthy. Good luck.
