What is a good clear airsoft rifle?

What is the difference between an airsoft rifle and a paintball gun? Can an airsoft rifle fire paintballs?

  • Answer:

Airsoft gun use a variety of propellants to fire small ( 6 mm) plastic balls. The guns operate by spring air, pneumatic, or electric firing systems and range in fps (feet per second. thats how fast the balls fly) from around 150 to over 400. A paintball marker (gun) fires gelatin .68 caliber (much larger then airsoft) gelatin capsules filled with non-toxic paint. These guns are all pneumatic and all have an maximum fps of 300. however they can be turned down if you wish. Basically it's different equipment for two different sports. Paintball is much bigger and more popular however many people stick to airsoft because it can be cheaper in the long run. The games have as many differences as they do similarities since both revolve around war-like play and eliminating opponents by shooting them. I have played both for years but prefer paintball.

My son has an airsoft pistol and they fire small plastic BB's. At close range it can leave a small welt but not real dangerous. Of course he wears saftey goggles so not to injure an eye. He and his buddies have airsoft pistol wars with them. Paintballs are bigger and can hurt more. In my opinion. +5

Airsoft guns fire small plastic pellets along the lines of a BB. Gun. Where as paintball fires a much larger(penny sized) sphere of paint. They're not compatible.
