Following up on a resume?

I am following a "poll" and discussion on linkedin that asks "Is it OK to Embellish or Lie on your Resume to get an

  • Interview." It's getting some good doalogue, so I thought I would ask the question here. So, Is it OK to Embellish or Lie on your Resume to get an interview?

  • Answer:

    Not if it gets you a job that you are not able to do. Or if you are lying. But you can put the best face on events. If you answer questions, you can say you do "customer relations."

No....not very smart either. What if something that you are called on to reference during your interview is something that you embellished? Now you not only don't get the job but the company realizes that you are a liar also....JMO.

Careful selection of words. A lie will be found out and the cost is out of proportion to the earlier gain.

There's a whole lot of embellishment that goes on. Whether it's "OK" is a value judgement.
