I'm moving away this week to take a job offer, I feel like this will help me stop mourning my painful break-up 7 months ago. I keep looking at our pictures and gifts even though it hurts. Should I leave all of the stuff behind? Or at least say bye?

+5 that is something only you can decide for yourself, i myself throw away what hurts me, who needs extra pain.

STOP! Stop torchering yourself... that's what your doing when you look at the pictures and gifts and letters and such from the past. Don't be a glutten for pain. Leave it all behind. Move forward instead of constantly looking back. Don't say good bye to him... don't call him... don't even email him and let him know your leaving. Just walk away from it. I would even go as far as saying burn everything from that relationship. So you can't hurt yourself anymore.

I think you should pack it all up and leave it behind. I would even consider destroying it all -- but if that isn't an option to you, at least leave it behind where it will be safe but impossible for you to access for awhile. I think you need distance in order to heal. Good luck!

Congrats on the job offer! Do not sully your happy moment by going to say good-bye to this man. You will be disappointed if you don't get the reaction you hope for. But you should keep the gifts and pictures because you seem like you may regret it if you don't. Just put them in a cardboard box, label it as the "ex box" and keep it on a high shelf in your closet so you can resist the temptation to mope over them. You should focus on the new life awaiting you...

Put them in a box. Seal the box. You can take it with you if you want and open it when you feel like you have gotten over him. Or, you can always leave it if it will give you a sense of closure.
