Why isn't my computer in Vista settings?

Im trying to connect to my families wireless internet on my vista laptop. But when i find it, it always says "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirments of the network" How do i change these settings?

  • Answer:

You'll need to change either the security type to match your wireless card (WPA instead of WPA2 for example) or change the channel on the router via 192.168.0.1 or similar depending on router. This usually happens when you've a cheap/faulty wireless card and/or a router running at the wrong channel or too many nearby routers running the same channel.
