Dead bodies in my dreams?

What do you think it means to keep having dreams about bodies of water?

  • Answer:

Water frequently shows up in dreams and can have many different meanings depending on its form, clarity, etc. Typically, water symbolizes emotions, intuition, and that which is 'below the surface'--the unconscious. Here are some ways water appears in dreams and what it may symbolize. As always, remember though that you are the foremost expert on your dreams! Tsunami In waking life tsunamis occur when an earthquake or some other violent action takes place thereby lifting the sea up which in turn creates a gigantic wave that causes much devastation when it comes ashore. In dream life, a tsunami may symbolize the same feeling--a feeling of being overwhelmed by a huge, powerful force beyond your control. Dreaming of a tsunami can be a sign that you are feeling emotionally overwhelmed or emotional upheaval. Look at your life and see if there is a situation that feels overpowering. Rivers Rivers can be symbolic of a journey; either physical, emotional, or spiritual. Rivers flow into much larger bodies of water which can indicate a transition of some sort. Take a look at the river. Is it moving fast? Are you in the river? If so, how do you feel? Water moving rapidly can indicate rapid changes; feeling overwhelmed or anxious could indicate feelings that changes are happening too quickly. It may also indicate a feeling of being out of control. If, however, you are calm it can signify comfort with the changes going on around you. Waterfalls Waterfalls are a beautiful symbol of rebirth--a cleansing and purification, a washing away of the old so that the new may come into being. If you are standing in a waterfall this can symbolize a form of baptism or initiation. Waterfalls are usually very positive dream symbols and can also be associated with starting a new life in some manner--perhaps creatively! Storms Storms can indicate turbulent emotions or the destruction of the old situations, relationships, etc. In Tarot, the Tower card has an image of a lightning struck tower from which are falling two people. Many many people interpret this card as negative, seeing it as a card of complete destruction. However, sometimes the only way to free ourselves from a bad situation--be it a relationship, a job, or a way of being--is to completely rid ourselves of the old. Storms in dreams can have the same meaning; a cleansing of that which no longer serves us well. Stormy dreams though usually do mean that the transition will feel difficult. Keep in mind the most basic law of storms--they will pass! Clarity of Water No matter what form the water in your dream takes, have a look at its clarity for more insight into the symbol. Muddy water may indicate emotions that are muddled or may mean that your intuition is somehow blocked. Stagnant, algae filled water may indicate feelings of being stuck in some area of your life. Clear water can indicate feelings of serenity and clarity in your emotions. Ocean Dreams of the ocean can have several different meanings. Oceans are places of limitlessness, when standing on seashores, the ocean appears to stretch into eternity. Oceans are deep and may represent deep emotions. Ocean tides are controlled by the moon--a symbol of intuition and the unconscious--and dreams of oceans are often symbolic of the same. The seashore is a meeting place - place where the ocean touches the sand, washing over it, sometimes bringing gifts of the sea. The ocean can therefore be a kind of metaphor for the conscious and unconscious coming together. The action of the sea can tell you more--turbulent seas may indicate emotional upset or deep, uncomfortable stirrings in the unconscious. Calm, rhythmic seas may be symbols of a relaxed state of being, of being in touch with your intuition, or of being in harmony with the Universe. Dreams of oceans can also indicate a deep emotional longing. Baptism Dreams of being baptized, or dreams of being submerged in water and then resurfacing can indicate initiation. Dreams of this kind can indicate a fresh start in life, a clean slate, and a sense of joy and wonder. Take advantage of this time in your life! Water dreams are excellent signposts of what's going on with us emotionally and spiritually. Use them to help you continue in your growth process.
