I really dislike Windows Media Center, so is there any other way to watch TV using the TV tuner on my laptop?

You can try using VLC to watch TV on your computer via your TV tuner card. I've never tried it, so I don't know if it will work for you. But, you can get VLC here and give it a try: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
