How do you use downloaded Sims in Sims 3?

SIMS 3 ive downloaded houses and stuff of there sight to put into the game. and then ive gone back to the sims 3 game launcher and pressing install. but were do i go in the actual game to use them?

    the houses should be on the neighborhood menu on the empty lots button. it can be a pain in the butt sometimes to find this stuff on the sims 3
