What is this statue/monument in New York?

What does New York City mean to you? What are your experiences as a New Yorker? & How would you describe New York to someone that's never been in New York before? (Please be detailed. If you are not a New Yorker, How do you see New York?)

  • Answer:

It is a great city. The best place to live in my opinion. It makes you feel alive just being there. There is so much to do and see. When walking the streets you hear every language imaginable (including Klingon lol) You never know what or who you will see walking down the street. It is always full of surprises. You can feed your soul by going to Lincoln Center or one of the many art museums. Every kind of food imaginable. The best place to people watch! Fabulous architecture. Fabulous entertainment 7 nights a week. Always something to do. Always something interesting going on. I am proud to say that the crime rate has gone way down in recent years and is a very safe place to be. Just check the statistics.

i started visiting the city at maybe 11 and have gone ever since. many of my very best experiences have been in nyc. a few of my most embarrassing, too! the city has life beyond words. there's so much to do it's like a kid in a candy store - historic sites, educational sites, art galleries, shopping, entertainment, parks, great restaurants ... sublime!

I live in the state of NY. Far north from the city. My advice to anyone seeking to visit. Come north to the resort towns check out the capital area Albany. But for the love of God do yourself a favor and stay out of the congested crime riddled mess that is NYC. If you must go and not heed this warning then keep your wallet in your front pocket and dare not look up or carry a camera these are sure fired ways to make yourself a target.

I've been to NYC off an on over the years. I find it fascinating for it's history and complexity. And no few relatives. But it's not a place for a family.

I'm the person who posted this question. I just don't know how you could go back and edit the question. I live in New York. A couple of minutes away from the City. But I want other people's point of view. What I meant to ask was, how do you see New York City? What's your point of view? Do you see it as a historical landmark everytime you pass by a certain street? Or do you see it as a place that bestows you with the gift of loneliness? [As E.B. White said in his "Here is New York" (1949) piece.] I'm curious to know what are your point of views.
