How to make collapsible columns for a table?

I've inserted a table that has columns of alphabetic code that we've had to manually type out each time we fill up a page. how do i create a formula to tell excel (2007) to make the changes automatically?

    Anytime you want to make automatic changes...a universal solution would either be a direct link (by connecting cells with the simple equal sign)...or by VLOOKUP (or HLOOKUP) which will look for a unique value and pull in corresponding data by identifying the column or rows (which can further be found by use of the INDEX and MATCH functions if the address is unknown). But you'll need to be more specific in your question.

Perhaps you could elaborate on this question a bit. I don't know what in the world you mean by "alphabetic code" nor how it relates to what else is on the page. Can you explain what the actual requirement is, or what the data looks like, the way it will be used ... anything? Maybe there's an example of a similar spreadsheet that you could point to on the web, or set one up somewhere yourself (a dummy sheet would do nicely) that you can post a link to?
