Finding a good key generator?

If an generator is rated at 1800 rpm does it have to spin at that exact amount to give you the required 60 hertz to run appliances. What would happen if it only spin up to half that. Is there a formula for finding the hertz output of a generator

  • Answer:

1800 rpm is 30 rotation per second that is 30 hz. so if the generator produces 60hz at 1800rpm it means its a four-pole gen. now if it works at full load it will deliver the 60hz at the lowest 1725 rpm

an 1800 RPM rating would mean that at 1800 RPM's the generator is putting out the specified amperage that the generator is rated for. 60 hertz is the cycle speed that the current alternates ( or switches polarity) and is not effected by RPM only the amperage available is. The 60 hertz rating is controlled by rectifiers and can not be changed by speed of the stator, and the voltage is controlled by a regulator, also not relevant to input speed.

A generator gives you DC and alternator will give you AC. But idk I think it would only affect either the amperage or voltage, the 60hz would be built in somehow in the design

yea, but you'll end up beating your head against the wall to figure it you have to have 1800 rpm to get the proper output
