What is the tip for weekly housekeeping at a hotel?

When you stay at a hotel, do you tip the housekeeping person who brings you amenities (towels, coffee packets, shampoo, etc) that you asked the front desk for?

  • Answer:

No, I do not stay at fancy hotels where you get room service besides a simple cleaning. It's all paid for in the amount they charge for a night.

No, they are doing their job, they are not serving me personally like a waitress

I always go to the front counter and ask for the stuff in person. I never ask someone to just bring me stuff. If I want a blanket, a pillow, or an extra towel I make the trip down stairs and get it from the desk. Most of the hotels I have and like to stay in MUST have a pool I can swim in and I end up using all my towels (don't ask me how) after getting in and out of the pool/hot tub.

The only time I have ever tipped hotel staff was when I stayed in America, knowing the thing Americans have for tipping!

If someone brings something to the room that I asked for, I always tip. If there are no towels in the room and i call for towels, i do not tip.
