When buying Christmas presents for your adult family members, friends, co-workers ... Do you ask them what they want or need (Wish Lists); or buy them gifts based upon what you think they'd like so it's a surprise?

id go with surprise because they will be happier than kinda having a hint of what they are getting O YEAH +5

I RARELY, if ever, ask someone what THEY want! Either they like my gift. . . . .or they DON'T! Whatever! If they DON'T, I'll assume they'll do what everyone ELSE does. . . . .pass it along to the next person!!!! LOL

Never ask what they want for Christmas, it spoils the surprise. If they are not happy with your gift, keep the receipt and they can exchange it.

I don't ask them directly what they want, I get them to list 3 or 4 items and then get them one of those. That way I can narrow down what they like and still give them a surprise.

I've such a pitiful social life that christmas goes by and I don't even notice.

I ask them lots of times so they don't know what I will surprise them with. Sometimes I buy what they ask for but it is fun for me to guess what they want too.

If I don't already know what they need or would use, I'll ask the person closest to them. Especially about size and color. :) +5

I have one Teacher and six assisants to buy for; and I have to guess. I would really appreciate any novel ideas anyone could give me. LOL I am not rich especially this year. I have done this for Years and I have no new ideas.
