  • Answer:

Im a chemical engineer but might not be helpful because have only been out of uni a few years so am not chartered yet. Most of your Q's sound easy enough though. CHemical engineers can have a variety of jobs! mine in particular is supporting and advising customers who buy my company's products (nano-positioning equipment). Other chemical engineers in the company work in the manufacture of the piezo-ceramic components. Chemical and Materials Engineering degree. Takes 4 years to graduate work 40 hour week. have been an eng for 3 years. Once you have worked in design, advisory/management, and field work roles you can become whats called 'chartered' which means the engineering 'council' recognises that you as a professional. I say 'council' as the engineering industry is self-regulating so there is a group set up to make sure all engineers work ethically, i.e. to the rules (obviously to the laws but also to the engineering rules too) - google 'engineering council for more info' . CHemical engineers' background is primarily in the processing of raw materials (the stuff we get out of the ground - mines, oil wells, even trees etc) into usable materials. They do this by refining them (seperating them based on their physical properties) and chemically reacting them. THey can do these processes to materials that are recycled or to materials that are already refined to create or purify other materials and chemicals. ANy other Q's please post as comments!
