What are the services for troubled teens?

I was wondering if my mental health issues would prevent me from joining one of the military services. i was hospitalized a few times in my early teens for issues with depression and anxiety as well as some issues with bipolar. will this be a problem?

  • Answer:

You would be disqualified for a pre existing mental health issue. there is no waiver available for this. (former recruiter)

I am almost positive you won't get to join. They will consider you as a danger to yourself and others and emotionally unstable. You can always try but don't be disappointed if the answer is no.

hi karyn, i have had 2 patients with hxs of bipolar disorder who were admitted into the service, so long as they weren't using a medicine at the time they joined. that might not be representative of all of the armed services in other places. it seems they're more desperate ...
