Why does my TV screen freeze up every so often?

can any one tell me why my digital tv seems to freeze ( squares all over screen) it happens on and off when watching mostly bbc channels

  • Answer:

This happens when it loses the signal. The compression scheme chops up the picture into squares, compresses the squares, and sometimes transmit only ones which have changed a lot. If you have a weak signal, sometimes it gets a square and sometimes it doesn't, leaving you with areas of the screen that have updated and areas that have not. You probably need your aerial looked at or improved.

I think is lack of signal strength. I've read it happens more with satellite TV than with cable.

That's a signal strength/quality issue. Have your aerial alignment checked. You may need a better aerial.
