How hard is it to become a lifeguard in the UK?

I'm 16 and wanting to become a lifeguard but I'm moving to france in August 2010, does anybody know how i could do it? Much appreciated x

I'm 16, currently living in Wakefield in Yorkshire in England. Moving to a place near La Rochelle in France next year. I want to become a lifeguard but don't know how to go about it. If anyone knows of any training courses in France, it would be much appreciated. If anyone knows of any courses here in the UK, that would also be appreciated. I just want to know how to become a lifeguard propperly basically, thanks x
