The more thorough you are at cleaning and sanding the vehicle's surface, the better the paint will adhere to the vehicle. Supplies you will need consist of soap, a water supply, sponges and towels to wash the car. You will also need 400 and 600 grit wet sandpaper and tools to remove exterior automobile parts.Find a place to paintMove the automobile to an open area outside or in a large garage. If you are painting the vehicle in a garage, the enclosed space needs to be well ventilated. If you plan to paint the car outside, make sure the weather will cooperate and be wary of general debris. Plan not to move the vehicle after washing it, as this may get the vehicle dirty again.Wash the vehicleWash and rinse the car. Remove all dirt and debris. Dry well and let the vehicle sit for an hour or two to make sure all moisture evaporates. Remove every item that is detachable that you do not want to paint.
