How do I mount an ISO image?

Answer:
An ISO image is a type of archive file of an optical disc such as a CD or DVD. It typically contains all the data files for a software program, including the files to boot the disc, install the program and the program itself. The images can be recognized on your computer with a .iso extension. To run the ISO image as if it were the disc, you need software capable of "mounting" the image.Download or Purchase the Right SoftwareIn order to mount an ISO image, you will need third-party software that is capable of performing the task. Popular commercial software includes Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools Pro and Nero. There is also Roxio Toast for the Mac. Free or shareware software capable of mounting an ISO image includes Virtual CloneDrive, PowerISO and MagicDisc. These and others are available to download from their official websites as well as the popular CNET Download site.Install the SoftwareInstall the software on your computer according to the instructions that come with the program. Make sure it adds a desktop icon so you have easy access to the program.Mount the ISO imageMounting the ISO image is a fairly straightforward process. The software will create a virtual drive that will contain the ISO image in the same way a computer DVD drive contains the DVD disc. Start the install software. While the layout depends on the software, there should be an option on the main tool bar to "mount image" or something similar. Click on this option to open up the menu. Within the menu, browse to or open up the ISO image you would like to mount. The program will mount the image with its own drive number. Once it is mounted, click on the "Start" button and then click on "My Computer." In the list of drives on your computer should be the ISO image on its own drive. Click on this drive, and your ISO image should begin to run in the same way a bootable program disc does. If you want to "un-mount" the disc, follow the same steps to remove the ISO image, selecting the un-mount option within the ISO software program.Source:http://download.cnet.com/windows/cd-burners/?tag=bcMore Information:http://shareware.pcmag.com/welcome.php?&SiteID=pcmag
