How to remove stereo out of 2006 Ford Explorer?

How to Remove Ford 6006CDC Car Stereo.

• I'm trying to remove the stereo from my Ford Fusion+ (2006, UK not US version). I bought the correct (i think) removal keys and have tried a few different ways to insert them, but still it wont release. the release keys look like : http://i3.ebayimg.com/06/i/08/92/41/7c_2.JPG (although they do have a couple of holes not shown in this picture) and the radio: http://www.fitaudio.com/storedimages/ford_fiesta_07/h1.jpg (the picture is of a 6000CD, and in a fiesta but its a similar stereo) Do I have to insert the keys in a certain direction and or apply outward/inward force etc? the only guide i've found either says "insert the keys" (and nothing more), or insert them with the "curved edge pointing the center of the unit" but neither works, the keys just pop straight out when i pull them.

  After much trial an error, and looking at pictures of the locking mechanism I managed to work out how to do it. Insert the keys with the curved edge towards the middle of the unit, and run the straight edge down the outer-edge of each slot. When the keys have been inserted as far as they will go freely, you need to force them in the rest of the way. You will hear a click when the keys engage in the locking mechanism. Once they are engaged you cant get them out until you remove the unit. (not easily anyway) To pull the unit out its easier to do one side then the other. Pull the keys out and angled slightly towards the closest edge of the unit. Once each side is free you can pull it out easily.
