Whats The Best Diesel Exhaust?

my 2003 citroen c15 diesel revs and bellows white smoke from exhaust when warm not so bad when cold. whats wrong with it?

  • Answer:

White smoke from a diesel is unburned fuel. The fact that it is reving and the white smoke says that something with the injection pump probably went on the fritz. I don't know what type of fuel system this engine uses but I would bet on a Bosch or Delphi system that is electronic. Get it to a mechanic. If the smoke is grey/white and smells of coolant (kind of a sweet smell) it could mean you have a blown head gasket or cracked head that is introducing coolant to the combustion chamber. As the engine heats up it will create more pressure in the cooling system and cause more coolant to mix. This can cause a rough idle but usually not reving unless it bogs the engine down enough to allow the injection system to pull into full fuel and inject a lot of fuel to compensate for low RPM. If you are not low on coolant and the exhaust is white and not white/grey and smells like diesel fuel you need your fuel system checked out.
