What reputable health insurance companies are out there?

What will happen to the people who get rejected by health insurance companies for previous conditions? Will they be penalized?

  • I am trying to figure out how health insurance companies will treat anyone with existing medical conditions with the new health bill. If someone is rejected by a health insurance provider then there should not be penalties in my opinion. However the new bill states everyone needs to have it and there will be a price to pay if coverage is not attained. Hoping someone will have some insight.

  • Answer:

Under the Healthcare Bill as passed, insurance companies will not be allowed to refuse you. But they can bill you more. If the bill is too high, you will become poor enough that the government will subsidize your insurance.

I believe under the new bill insurance companies would be penalized if they refuse coverage because of an existing condition. What they're suppose to do is assign you to a high risk pool. Which means you'll have to pay more.
