What happens if u put the wrong zip code?

When mailing a letter. What happens if you forgot to put the state and zip code?

If the city is a large one, it will probably be delivered. But if it is a smaller town or one that is in several states - it will be returned for better address.

If you put your return address on it they will eventually return it to you. If you didn't then the letter goes to the dead letter office .

Knowing how dumb and lazy our postal servants are, I'd say, they'll send it right back to you after voiding the stamp so you have to pay for another one.

A lot of the time they will deliver it anyhow. If it's in Chicago, for instance, they'll know which state it is. It's less trouble to deliver than send back.
