How to check if application is still running on Android?

How do I find where I can check for downloads running on my Google Android Tablet 2.2?

When I am trying to download (and install) android apps to my google tablet, I can not see how the download is going or if it has even started for sure. Is there ony where on the tablet that I can check the statis of downloads? Thanks.

I have the same problem with the Android Market. What I usually do is start a download, navigate away from the page, and then come back and start the download again. It always works the second time. If anyone has a less awkward solution I would also like to hear it!

When it is downloading, can you see the statis of the download?

There is a download indicator on the lower right on my tablet which indicates when something is actually downloading. I have Android 3.x which might be a little different than 2.2.
