How to record Dish Network DVR?

How do I record movies from a dish network DVR?

  • Answer:

You will only need to use the Dish Network provided satellite remote to record movies. Press the "Guide" button. If the movie you want to record is already on, hit the "Record" button (a small black button with a red circle on it), and the movie should begin recording from whatever point the movie is currently playing. If your movie hasn't aired yet, find the "Search" button on the remote control. Begin typing in the name of the movie you want to record. Once the satellite finds it, press "Record," and this should record the movie from start time to end time. If you want to check the movie recording schedule, press the "DVR" button. Go to "My Recordings," which should be the No. 1 selection on the list; then press "Select." This will take you to another screen. On the far right side of the screen, you will see an icon labeled "Schedule." Go to that button and press "Select." Find the date that your movie is set to record. Scroll down until you find it. If there is either a blue or green dot next to the movie, with a No. 1, 2 or 3 next to it (depending on how many Dish Network receivers you have), then your movie is set to record and should appear on your DVR list once the recording is complete.

I wanted to provide additional information about recording movies or shows with your DISH Network DVR. The default setting for the DVR is to record on TV 2 and then TV1 if you have 2 recordings overlapping a time period. The preference can be changed on the Record Plus screen. When setting up a timer, from your Program Guide (accessed by pressing the Guide button on the remote) you can scroll through the channels and programs. Any program in the future, when you press record brings up the Create Timer screen. You have several options of how you can setup the timer. You can record the program Once, All, etc. After you make your selections, it will create the timer. When you go back to the Guide and the program you are going to record, you will see either a green 1 or blue 2 indicating which TV tuner the program will record to. At the designated time and date the program will record. I hope this helps. Ray Calo DISH Network
