How are people finding me on Deviant Art?

I think finding a way to be happy no matter what is an art. Some people are better at it than others. What do you think?

  • Answer:

I don't think you can decide to be happy. You can decide to be content however. I would call it more a discipline than an art. Why would you call it an art?

I can do so if i wish. But it depends what happens. If there is no problems at all, you can be happy. At the moment, i'm not happy. But i'm calm.

Happiness is a Choice---don't let your circumstances dictate your choice!! ;D

Depends on how you define happiness. I would go with the sense of well-being, contentment, love and joy. In this case, I think there are many factors that go into it: 1) optimism/positive mindset - that's partly a genetic disposition, partly skill 2) internal locus of control - the sense that you are the one in control of your life, or at least you control the attitudes and behaviors that you have to external events. It's about taking responsibility for your mistakes, and credit for your success. 3) ability to love - that's innate, even though some people suppress it because of the way they were raised or because of the way life kicked them around ... but that's where the attitudes come in. 4) ability to re-frame any situation in more positive terms. Feasible in most situations, very hard to do in some (death of a child, for instance). it is possible to find the silver lining in almost every mess, and it's a skill that can be learned. 5) ability to let go and put things into perspective - again, part skill, part attitude 6) ability to slow down and smell the proverbial roses - a skill and attitude as well 7) belief in the basic goodness of human nature Innate things are almost impossible to change. Beliefs are very hard to change, but it's not impossible to so. Attitudes are sticky, but changeable. Skills can be acquired relatively easily. So overall, I would have to conclude that happiness is mostly a skill that comes to some of us more easily, but can be acquired by anybody.

I agree. I think being able to achieve happiness in all circumstances requires a combination of solid thinking skills and the ability to control one's emotions. One must adopt a line of thought about a situation according to which happiness at that time makes sense. Some people, however, can come up with and fully comprehend such a line of thinking, but they cannot use their own logic to alter their emotions very well. Being happy no matter what is definitely harder than it may sound!

Happiness for me is about discipline, wisdom and love. Happy people are such because of luck and hard work. That is: they were lucky enough to realise what ultimately makes people happy and they had the discipline to persue this in their own lives. I don't think there are many ways to be happy, only one. Personally, I think Buddhism is the best means of persuing happiness. When you're religious, and have faith in a set of teachings, finding a way to be happy doesn't seem as tricky and elusive as it once was. It's certainly not as stressful!
