How to buy TIVO Subscription ONLY?

i do not have HD channels with my current Comcast subscription. i want to buy a TiVo Box and subscribe to Tivo.

  • Will this box upgrade me to be able to pick up HD channels, or do i need to upgrade to HD through Comcast??

as 'gabriel' said, Tivo has nothing to do with what sort of programing you receive from your cable provider. but Tivo has access to ton's of online/Internet media that might be in HD.

You might as well get a DVR/HD BOX from comcast, you will get HD standard (premium channels ARE extra) and you will have a high definition digital video recorder similar to tivo built into your cable box, why pay for both at the same time unless you really want to - and as its been pointed out COMCAST is really your content provider, remember you need an HDMI CABLE FROM THE BOX TO YOUR HDTV SET , or DVI CABLE AND AUDIO IN CABLES FROM THE CABLE BOX , or last and the least best way to view HD component cables plus audio cables from the box to the TV, only these cables carry HD FROM THE BOX TO THE TV SET, with HDMI being the best cable for the job as it delivers both the HD picture and audio to your TV SET or to a pass through surround sound receiver amplifier with just one cable.
