How do I hook up my DTV converter box?

"How to hook up DTV converter box, analog TV with A/V input to a VCR & a DVD and audio receiver? Diagram available?"

  • Answer:

This is what I think you need to do: put the output of the DTV converter box to your VCR cable/antenna in, and then connect "VCR out" to your TV cable/antenna in. I assume you have coax jacks in your converter box, the VCR and your TV. For audio, use the phono plug type cords from L/R "audio out" from your VCR to L/R "audio in" for your receiver. I don't have a diagram, but it's pretty straightforward.

Sorry, I don't see the DVD in the mix of your answer... The converter box, VCR and TV do have coax jacks so I can connect as you describe. Are the phono type cords the red/white? and what about yellow cables? (sorry, your easy is not my easy) :-( There is a diagram here, http://columbiaisa.50webs.com/diagrams_dtv_vcr_dvd_tv_avr.htm but I think I can eliminate the RF modulator since my TV does have the AV ports...Yes? (took me awhile to figure out what the RF mod did)

Sorry, I was thinking the DVD and VCR were one unit. Yes, what I called phono cords are the red/white/yellow. As long as you have a "video in" port for your DVD player on your TV, you can eliminate the RF modulator. Then the audio would go from "audio out" on the DVD player to another pair of "audio in" jacks on your receiver.

Thanks! This helped and I appreciate knowing I can get my TV & components to play together in the sandbox again!
