What degrees do you need for neonatal nursing?

Im 17 and deciding what to do and i need to know what nursing degrees i would need to become a labor and delivery nurse

  • Answer:

You know, you could google 'requirements to become a delivery nurse', and get some good answers. Also, you could easily go into a hospital and ask to speak to one of the nurses there in the maternity ward.

You would need an RN Associate's Degree. All RN's have to take the same exam, whether they have a BSN or not. Just do your best, learn as much as you can. That is a very popular specialty so might not be readily available, but as Shelly says, you have to do your med-surg anyway. Good luck!

First, dont set your sights on specializations in nursing. Go get your Bachelor of Nursing and see what you like. All you need is an RN to work on any floor of a hospital.

All you need is a 2 year RN degree program - check your local community colleges - you will need some course generally before you'll be accepted - English, math, chemistry, micro-biology are ones I remember, and you'll need to submit an application to the program and be selected to it. Then, at the end, you'll need to take and pass the NCLEX test. After that, you'll probably need to be assigned to a med-surg floor before being accepted into L & D, although different hospitals have different selection criteria.
